EF Game for Shifting: Magic Forest

This game is one of the three games I developed for my doctoral dissertation, Using Games as Measurements of Executive Function.

Magic Forest aims to measure young adults’ shifting ability (the ability to flexibly shift between different mental sets or rules). In this game, participants play a cactus wandering in a magic forest matching different types of carnivorous flowers by their color (red or blue), teeth (having teeth or not), and leaves (having leaves or not). The criterion to match the flowers is prompted, and it changes every 20 seconds. Successfully matching a pair of flowers gives 20 points, while mismatching them deducts 5 points. For playtesting, you can input “10000” as the participant ID.
